I had a Linksys router before and needed a replacement, after looking through reviews and determining my needs for home wifi this model seemed the best. It was very easy to setup it was up and running with minutes. I was able to connect all my devices (2 TVs, 2 Tablets, 2 Phones, video game console, Fire Stick and Chromecast) within 30 minutes. That includes labeling them in the app, which I feel is one of the best features of the Linksys routers. All in all great buy for the price and I get to have 2 wifi network on 2 different frequencies (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz).
I highly recommend buying this product especially if you run a lot of devices and do a lot of streaming. So far it has been a great wireless router. We have 150+Mbps service through Comcast and I'm able able to get the full speed when running Speed Test on my LG G6 phone using 5Ghz (usually I get 200+Mbps). I have an older dell laptop but it usually gets 60+Mbps on 2.4Ghz. On our Roku devices they usually get 20+Mbps when running the Netflix speed test, so plenty of speed to run 1080p movies.
The Wireless Range Extender feature works with the following models only: Belkin Wireless G Router Belkin Wireless G Access Point Confi gure 2 Configuring as a Wireless Range Extender The Wireless G Access Point can widen your home or office network’s wireless coverage area. The example below illustrates the use of range extension mode.
I'm quite impressed with the range. It works well in our two level town house. I wish it had removable antennas but they could be installed with some modifications to the case and the necessary parts. The interface is pretty good (compared to other routers I've used). The one odd problem I had was it would not accept the '%' character as part of the wifi password. When the save button was clicked, it would just show. A must have if you live in a vault like me.
My house is the opposite of an open concept. In other words, it has tons of walls that block Wi-Fi singles. We have blazing fast internet in the front of the house, but our bedrooms are dead zones. I've tried several brands of repeaters, which all have only provided marginally improved reception. I decided to give the Google WiFi system a try because I was tired of my wife nagging me about how frustrated she is with our Internet. To say that this product exceeded my expectations is an understatement. I am absolutely wowed by the results.
Our Internet is now blazing fast no matter where you are in our house, and we even get great reception in our garage!Installation couldn't have been easier. Just install the app on your smart phone and follow the easy directions. I had my doubts about this unit. I have a man cave 75 feet from my house. The walls in my house are 3/4 inch tongue and grove on all inside and outside walls.
My WFI single has to go through all this to reach my man cave. I have been so frustrated because I could not get a decent WIFI single to my cave for my laptop and security camera. I had to run an underground CAT6 Ethernet wire to my man cave to even be able to stream on my laptop. This was the third WIFI Extender I tried. The unit came in and I thought no way is this little box going to do the job of other more expensive extenders I have tried.
Well in three minutes it was up and running. I did the install in the house right next to my router. I powered the unit. My devices seem a little faster, especially the ones that can use the upper band. I have had to reset it 2 or 3 times in a month or so but still using DOCISS 2 cable modem with it. That might be a problem.
Seems about the same frequency of required resets as with the N wireless it replaced. Also not paying for fastest internet service. Haven't had time to upgrade.Setup was only slightly confusing. I did have trouble with setting them up as infrastructure printers but I think that turned out to be due to old drivers on the computers, one very declining-health inkjet (which is now dead), and incorrect 'wake on print job' setting on a printer.
The other, hp laser jet, seems to now be working fine from both a Mac and a PC.Signal strength seems about the same as my old 'N' router. Not going to lie, 'set up' was easy but internet connection was a B.! In all, it took me about 5 hours to get this up and running. I tried different DSL cables, different line filters, different phone jacks and various combinations without success. After 4 phone calls, 2 to Netgear and 2 to AT&T it was finally up and running. After being on the verge of tears, frustrated, and borderline hysterical, low and behold, the red light turned white (a good thing)!!! I will admit Netgear tech support was difficult to understand, but ultimately, I believe it was AT&T that got me up and running despite telling me they don't troubleshoot 3rd party routers.
Since connection, we haven't had any issues. Speed is better and range has improved greatly. In the end, I still would recommend the router/modem but purchase a side of the Patience of Job. Product exceeds all expectations.
Absolutely fantastic product. Definitely something I'll buy again.I love this router. We needed a new one desperately, our 50 speed had dwindled down to about 10-15. I was getting very frustrated having to reset the router four to five times daily! So I did research and finally found this one.
I had never heard of this company, but the reviews weren't bad and the price was right. So I took a shot! I'm so glad I did. It's very user FRIENDLY, it's touchscreen, it notifies me if someone connects to the network, easy to set up. If you have a security system you can connect it to it allowing you access from your cell phone, laptop, or tablet. The screen on the side is easy to use, understand, and see.
I just can't say enough about how much I LOVE this product! I check our speed regularly. Most of these media converters lock you into a fixed Ethernet speed of 100 or Gig-e. These don't, which is great.
Assume you put a pair of these with a fiber in the middle - either Ethernet port on either end can be 100 or 1000 mb. Like an autosensing switch port.
The TP-Links wouldn't do this - if one end is 100mb and the other is gig-e, it won't work. These will.I can't speak for long term reliability of these (yet) - though I will if I have any problems. Also, I like the way the screw loosens to remove the unit as card that can be placed into a rack unit with an optional dual-power supply. For a few more $ you can add an SMNP module to keep watch over them.Another nice thing is the way the LEDs work - if there's.
This is my second D-Link router. First one being 825 which is still working fine but doesn't support ac protocol. I have SSTP VPN connected to external DNS and 895 had no problem establishing connections over port 443. Signal strength is much much better than 825. D-Link has revamped config menu and tried to made it look more user friendly apparently.
Being a little tech savvy, would have preferred old menu or rather have an option to switch back to the tech savvy mode.USB based share-point portal is working perfectly fine. On a 300MB net connection, Wifi reaches a best of 70MB down and 11MB up during speed test.
I have tried all 3 of these routers. I have had more time to play with the Netgear X6 and Asus Rt-AC3200.
My internet is through Comcast. I get about 127 Mbps down and 12 up. So far I find they are all pretty much ok. I feel like if you drop $300 on a router it should be amazing.
I know you will find people that cry and say expect bugs for new technology and I should be hung for saying this. Yes I do expect some but for flag ship routers I expect them to be squashed very quickly. So far they all have been coming out slow.
And by the way I am coming from an old Netgear R6300.RANGESo far range is not that impressive of any of the three. I expected more.
I do get a signal in all of my house and outside but I.
